Why Fellows use Medfuture
Built for FRACGP and FACRRM. Not a generic GP job board
“VR GP” is the shorthand employers and Fellows both use — it's the industry's own job code, and it's how we've built this entire site.

Advanced Insights
What your Fellowship actually unlocks
The detail most job boards skip. We don't — this is what a Fellow evaluating a role like a business decision needs to know before signing.
FRACGP vs. FACRRM
Which suits your next move?
FRACGP is the mainstream Fellowship, weighted toward metro and urban-leaning practice, and appears in the majority of VR GP job titles nationally. FACRRM is the rural generalist Fellowship, with broader procedural scope — often obstetrics, anaesthetics, emergency medicine, or mental health — commanding a smaller, higher-paying applicant pool. RACGP’s newer Rural Generalist Fellowship (FRACGP-RG) is also emerging as employers target procedural, rural-capable Fellows specifically. Most ads list "FRACGP/FACRRM" together deliberately, so if you hold either, you’re very likely eligible for the same role.

A1 billing rate
What Fellowship actually changes
Your Fellowship is what unlocks the A1 Medicare rebate tier — the higher billing rate compared to non-VR or registrar rates. This is the foundation every billing-split conversation is built on: "70% of billings" means 70% of A1-rate billings, a materially different figure to 70% of standard-rate billings. Always confirm which rate a quoted percentage is based on.

DPA, MMM and 19AB
What they mean for your contract
DPA and MMM 1–7 classifications determine eligibility for rural incentives, relocation packages, and government incentive stacking — relevant even for Fellows chasing partnership-track rural roles, not just OTDs. 19AA covers standard VR compliance; 19AB governs Medicare access for overseas-trained doctors via DPA classification. Confirm a practice's exact DPA/MMM classification in writing before accepting any regional role — it affects both incentive eligibility and moratorium timelines.

Percentage splits vs. guaranteed minimums
What's standard now
Current market data across live listings shows 65–80% billing splits are now the advertised norm for Fellowed GPs, frequently paired with $170–250/hr guarantee periods during ramp-up. If you're offered materially below this range, or asked to absorb indemnity and admin costs on top of a low split, it's worth benchmarking — we can show you what comparable roles in your target region are genuinely paying.

Partnership and equity
A path few recruiters market directly
Because Fellowship is the entry ticket to practice ownership, ads increasingly include explicit partnership language — equity opportunity, profit share, or GPs shaping their own care model. If ownership is part of your career plan, raise it in your first conversation with a practice, not your fifth.

Telehealth compliance
Post-funding changes
Fellowship unlocks access to higher-value telehealth Medicare item numbers not available at standard VR rates. Several Fellowship-required platforms are built around this, offering genuine flexibility — but billing eligibility rules are stricter than during the pandemic, so confirm exactly how a platform structures compliant billing before committing hours.
